VenaSeal Ablation

What is VenaSeal Ablation?
VenaSeal ablation is a minimally invasive, non-thermal treatment for varicose veins and chronic venous insufficiency. Unlike traditional vein treatments that use heat or vein stripping, VenaSeal uses a medical adhesive to seal the diseased vein, rerouting blood flow through healthy veins. This outpatient procedure is FDA-approved, typically painless, and involves little to no downtime—making it a safe and effective option for patients seeking relief from leg pain, swelling, or visible varicose veins. This treatment is typically not recommended for patients with adhesive allergies or autoimmune diseases.
What to Expect During the Procedure
The VenaSeal procedure is performed in-office and usually takes less than an hour. After cleaning and numbing a small area of the leg, your provider will insert a thin catheter into the affected vein using ultrasound guidance. A small amount of medical adhesive is then delivered through the catheter to seal the vein closed. Most patients experience minimal discomfort and can return to their regular day-to-day activities immediately. However, it’s important to avoid strenuous leg exercises, heavy lifting, and swimming for at least two weeks post-treatment to support proper healing and ensure the best possible results.
