How Quickly Does Cellfina® Work and Know the Benefits of this treatment.

Shorts, dresses, and skirts are staples in any woman’s wardrobe, but when you’re self-conscious about your thighs, you might shy away from any clothing that is remotely revealing. And we understand – the dimpling that comes with cellulite can make anyone want to hide away. At R Shaheen Vascular in Mountain View, CA we believe that every woman deserves to feel confident about every aspect of her appearance. We are pleased to offer Cellfina®, a new system that will help you clear away cellulite and reclaim your confidence.

What Is Cellfina®?

Cellfina® is the only long-lasting, minimally invasive treatment for cellulite reduction. This treatment uses a combination of subdermal technology and vacuum suction to refine the appearance of cellulite that forms on the thighs and buttocks. The combination of these technology treats both the inner and outer tissues to significantly improve the appearance of cellulite.

How Does It Work?

If you were to compare this cellfina treatment to any other, the most similar cosmetic treatment is microneedling. The subdermal technology involved in this treatment uses a small needle-sized device to directly treat the bands of cellulite around the thighs, hips, and buttocks. Combined with vacuum suction, the underlying causes of cellulite are treated at the same time as the appearance of cellulite is reduced.

Benefits of Cellfina®

There are many major benefits of this cellfina treatment. The first is that it is a truly unique treatment unlike any other. This type of treatment is better than non-invasive treatments that only address the outward appearance of cellulite. Other benefits of this treatment include:

Reduced Cellulite

The reduction of cellulite is the biggest benefit of this cellfina procedure. But while this treatment may reduce cellulite, it also goes a step further to eliminate cellulite and prevent new cellulite from forming for years after treatment. Reducing, eliminating, and preventing cellulite is a key benefit that many patients take into account when they consider this treatment.

Anti Aging

Many women know that there are things that give their age away – and one of the hallmarks of aging is the formation of cellulite on the thighs and hips. Cellulite begins forming as a response to a decrease of collagen, the production of which slows after a certain point. This treatment is considered anti-aging because it helps reverse one of the most obvious signs of aging in women over the age of 40.

Single Treatment

Many cosmetic treatments require multiple treatment sessions to produce the desired results. This treatment is different because a single treatment session is effective enough to create the desired result of reducing the appearance and the formation of cellulite. The fact that this treatment requires only a single session is attractive to patients who are pressed for time or have busy schedules. Additionally, this single treatment has very little downtime, which means you can quickly get back to your life.

Minimally Invasive

Cosmetic treatments come in many shapes and forms. While a lot of patients prefer non-invasive treatments, it is a fact that minimally invasive treatments are often more effective and create longer-lasting results. For the treatment of cellulite, this is a minimally invasive technique that uses only a small needle, which is comparable to something as simple as a flu shot.

Improved Confidence

The reduction of cellulite can immediately boost your self-confidence. Placing some importance on your appearance is natural, but our self-esteem can take a hit when troublesome areas of our body refuse to cooperate with all of our efforts, such as diet, exercise, and other lifestyle habits. By using a cosmetic treatment such as this one to address your concerns, you will be able to restore your confidence about your overall appearance.

What to Expect Before, During, and After Cellfina

Preparing for any cosmetic treatment means knowing what you can expect, and while our expert staff are happy to answer any questions you may have, it is sometimes helpful to have a reference about the treatment steps. Here are a few things you can expect before, during, and after this treatment, such as:

Consultation

Before any treatment, you will need to attend a consultation appointment. Initial consultations help us decide if a treatment is right for you or if a different treatment would be more suitable for your needs. We will discuss your aesthetic goals, particularly your desired appearance, and perform a preliminary examination for your areas of concern. For this treatment, we will need to look at your thighs to determine the severity of the cellulite.

We may also gather information about you, such as your general medical history, your current medications or supplements, and any cosmetic treatments you have had in the past. We may ask about any drug allergies you have had. It is possible we will also discuss your lifestyle habits, such as your exercise routine and your diet, which both may contribute to the formation of cellulite.

Pre-Treatment Guidelines

We will provide you with instructions to follow before your treatment. It is important to follow these instructions for your health and safety, as well as to ensure that your treatment will be effective. Some pre-treatment guidelines you will be asked to follow include:

  • Stopping the use of certain medications, unless otherwise instructed by a doctor
  • Stopping the use of certain supplements
  • Avoiding the use of certain topical products, such as lotions or retinols
  • Avoiding alcohol for 24 hours before treatment
  • Instructions to eat and drink normally on treatment day

We may also instruct you to shave your legs before treatment. On the day of your appointment, you will need to wear comfortable, loose clothing, such as a skirt or dress. You will likely be asked to arrange transportation on the day of your treatment.

Treatment

The treatment session itself will be performed by our surgeon and will generally take about 45 minutes to complete. After cleansing the treatment area, we will apply a topical numbing cream to the treatment area for your comfort. If you are anxious about the treatment, we can also discuss the use of pain relievers or mild sedatives.

The treatment device comes with sterile, single-use tools that will be used for your treatment. Some patients compare the treatment to the feeling of getting a tattoo, or a sensation similar to a faint scratch. You will not feel any significant pain or discomfort during the treatment.

Post-Treatment Guidelines

After your treatment is complete, we will provide you with instructions to follow for the duration of the day or until you are fully recovered. These guidelines may include instructions such as:

  • Avoiding driving for 24 hours
  • How to wash the treatment area
  • How to address post-treatment soreness
  • Stopping the use of certain topical products or supplements for at least 24 hours
  • Avoiding strenuous exercise for at least 7 days post-treatment

We may provide you with additional instructions after your appointment that are specific to your exact needs, such as recommendations on the kinds of over-the-counter products or pain relievers you can use post-treatment.

Recovery

Although you will not be able to drive on the day of your treatment, there is generally a very limited downtime for most patients. We recommend that patients take it easy for 24 hours after treatment, after which you will be free to return to the majority of your daily activities. You will be advised to keep your movements light for the first few days after your treatment. You can expect to feel some soreness in the hours following treatment, but this is a temporary side effect that will fade within days.

Frequently Asked Questions

While we are happy to answer all of your questions, many patients share the same questions when they consider this treatment. Some frequently asked questions include:

What Causes Cellulite?

Women who suffer from cellulite often wonder what causes cellulite in the first place. Is there something they can do to prevent cellulite from forming? The simple answer is that the formation of cellulite is part of the natural aging process.

The cause of cellulite is associated with the weakening of collagen in your skin, which eventually allows fat deposits to push upward and create the dimpled appearance of cellulite. Cellulite tends to form in fat-rich deposits on the body, which for women tends to be at the hips, thighs, and buttocks. Preventing cellulite from forming can be managed through diet, exercise, and skin tightening treatments. You can also diminish the appearance of cellulite with treatments such as this one, which break down cellulite bands on the body.

How Quickly Does Cellfina Work?

For a cosmetic treatment, you can expect quick results from your treatment session. Many patients notice an improvement in their appearance as soon as 3 days post-treatment. Broadly speaking, you can expect to see the most obvious results 4 to 8 weeks after Cellfina® treatment, when your body is fully healed and your natural regenerative abilities settle into a higher production. How quickly you notice the results of this treatment depends on your body and the severity of the cellulite on your thighs.

How Long Will Results Last?

Generally, the results of this treatment can last for 1 to 3 years. Some patients enjoy results from a single treatment for as long as 4 years. The length of time your results last depends in part on how well you respond to the treatment and how quickly your body’s natural regenerative properties maintain stimulation. We can help you determine how soon you will need another Cellfina® treatment.

Is Cellfina® Cleared by the FDA?

This treatment is the only minimally invasive therapy for cellulite reduction that is currently cleared by the FDA. As a novel and new treatment, the FDA requires extensive testing and clinical trials before allowing the treatment to be released on the open market. This FDA-approved Cellfina® treatment is safe and effective for over 94% of patients, particularly women between the ages of 25 and 55.

Who Are Ideal Candidates?

Good candidates for this treatment include anyone who is self-conscious about the appearance of their thighs and buttocks. There are a few medical restrictions, such as pregnancy and some chronic illnesses, that may prevent you from having this treatment. However, overall many people are qualified for this treatment, including those who want to:

  • Reduce the appearance of cellulite on the hips, thighs, and buttocks
  • Prevent the formation of new cellulite
  • Avoid cosmetic surgery
  • Improve their self-confidence
